Most of us have never had to worry about not having safe water to drink. We don’t have to walk miles every day to find a water source full of harmful bacteria or wait in line for hours to use a well. However, about 1 in 8 individuals don’t have access to this basic necessity and fight this battle daily. Charity: water explains how serious of a problem this is:

“Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.”

charity: water is an incredible organization striving to provide clean, safe water to individuals in third world countries and has successfully reached out to 1,742,331 people. Improvement and access to clean water can and has made a tremendous impact in the health of numerous lives.

“90% of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions are to children under five years old. Many of these diseases are preventable. The UN predicts that one tenth of the global disease burden can be prevented simply by improving water supply and sanitation.”
